Eric Balfour will be making his feature film debut with a screenplay based off the “Jesus Hates Zombies” graphic novel by Stephen Lindsay. The film was written for the screen by Michael Mongillo and Jason Alan Smith and is set to be produced by the writing duo along with Mali Elfman and Derek Zahler.

The screenplay packs a killer punch of comedy and is filled with intense action scenes that will have people cheering for a new kind of super-hero. Time for Jesus to kick some ass!

Statement from the director:

Mali Elfman

“It’s an honor to be a part of this project. It’s bold, unapologetic, and controversial. When I read the script I was blown away by how well the writers had given life to Stephen’s graphic novel. What most intrigued me about the project was it’s heart and message. There is plenty of comedy and action in the script but what I wasn’t expecting and am most excited about bringing to the screen is it’s message of love and faith. I love when a script can break the mold and offer something unique and I’m going to work my ass off to honor Michael and Jason’s great script, and Stephen’s fantastically unique world. The way I see it Jesus was a bad ass and a revolutionary, who better to save humanity from the zombie apocalypse than JC.” – Eric Balfour

Balfour, Elfman and Smith recently collaborated on the film Do Not Disturb which was released on VOD by Warner Brothers May 1st. Balfour acted and directed a segment of the film which was produced by Elfman and acted in by Smith. “Jesus Hates Zombies” will be his first time directing a feature film.

Jesus Hates Zombies is currently in development and on it’s way into pre-production.
