America’s Next Top Model: College Edition – “The Girl Who Sings For Alicia Keys”
Previously, on America’s Next Top Model: College Edition, the models had an “acting” challenge with Tyler Perry. The girls then had a photo shoot dressed as zombies. All the girls agreed that Kristin was a mean girl, even Johnny Wujek. Laura got best photo. Yvonne barely squeaked by another week and Destiny was sent home.
The episode opens with the girls back at the “America’s Next Top Model: College Edition Sorority House.” Laura got best photo last week so she got the keys to the “Tyra Suite.” She camera talks that she doesn’t have a “little boy figure” and that she’s representing the girls who are healthy and strong. When Leila won best photo, she picked Laura to go to the “Tyra Suite” so she expects Laura to pick her. BUT, Laura picks Kristin instead, and also talks behind Leila’s back saying that Leila is obsessed with her. DRAMA. Leila camera talks that she’s not mad that she didn’t get picked, she’s just mad that Laura picked Kristin.
The next day, Tyra shows up with Alicia Keys at the “America’s Next Top Model: College Edition Sorority House.” Kiara is in tears over Alicia Keys…and then she starts singing for her…and I am SO second-hand embarrassed for her I actually just have to pause my DVR and get over it for a second. Seriously, girlfriend? Do not sing for Alicia Keys. And Alicia Keys is doing that fake smile thing where you know she’s just thinking, “What have I gotten myself into? I really need to start blocking calls from Tyra Banks.”
Alicia Keys is so cute and little and soft spoken. She looks like she’s a full foot shorter than Tyra Banks. So the girls are doing a fashion show for Alicia’s charity organization. And Victoria camera talks that they are doing this charity fashion show to “literally keep children alive.” Because they’re going to kill the children if they don’t do this fashion show. Apparently, they don’t teach the meaning of “literally” at Liberty online college.
The girls are going to be doing their own hair and makeup for the runway show, and since Laura is in the Tyra Suite, she’s going to be in charge of all the girls. People attending the show will be bidding on the outfits that the girls are wearing, and the girl who raises the most money via bidding will win the challenge and gets to take a friend to see an Alicia Keys concert. The theme of the show is “girl on fire” because that is Alicia’s new album, I guess. But also the Hunger Games…so…
The girls meet up with Johnny Wujek and Kelly Cutrone and Kelly asks if Laura is delegated everyone tasks for getting ready for the show. Laura is kind of like deer in the headlights. Leila camera talks that she feels kind of bad for Laura, but then again, it’s a competition so none of them are really friends. You go, girl. I think that’s the right kind of attitude to have.
The fashion show is pretty uneventful. Except for the fact that Leila doesn’t swing her arms when she walks. It’s like a real-life version of that one episode of Seinfeld. Tyra says that Victoria, Laura, and Kiara were the top three earners of the show. And the top winner is Kiara – in a landslide. Kiara chooses Nastasia to go to the Alicia Keys show with her.
The girls go back to the “America’s Next Top Model: College Edition Sorority House” and their challenge scores are up. Allyssa got the worst score, apparently because she was just smiling the whole time she was walking, and that’s not what serious models do.
Laura and Kristin are in the Tyra Suite, and they’re still talking about Leila. Leila is talking to Kiara about how sketchy Laura is, and Kiara tells her that they were all saying that Leila is obsessed with Laura. Laura comes in and Leila asks why she thinks that she’s obsessed with her. She then says that she pretty much just thinks that Laura is obsessed with herself. Then all of a sudden all the girls are in the room, and Leila’s just like, “why are you all saying this?” Laura starts crying and saying that people in high school used to say she was obsessed with herself, and how she doesn’t consider Leila a “true friend.” Except, literally, and I actually mean literally, about three minutes prior, Laura was camera talking that she didn’t come to the show to make friends.
The next day the girls meet up with Johnny Wujek and Jonte’, “choreographer and movement mentor,” at West LA College for a cheerleader-themed photo shoot. Kristin says she thinks she has an advantage because she was a cheerleader for six years. For the photo shoot the girls are being tossed up in the air by some sexy shirtless men. Allyssa actually hits one of them in the face and busts his face open.

- Nastasia gets best photo – 40.9
- Laura – 38.7
- Kristin – 38.1
- Kiara – 37.3
- Victoria – 36.5
- Yvonne – 36.4
- Allyssa – 30.8
It comes down to Brittany and Leila. Brittany came in as “Disney” but she has no clear identity of what she stands for. Leila has a strong and edgy face, but this week, her photo was less than stellar and she got a crap score on the runway challenge (because she doesn’t move her arms when she walks). Leila ends up getting eliminated by just half a point with 29.0.
8. Brittany – 29.5
Next time, on America’s Next Top Model: College Edition: the girls have a challenge to bring a video game to life and a steampunk-themed photo shoot. Yvonne blows up at Bryanboy.
