The news has exploded today that not only has the Walt Disney Co. acquired Lucasfilm, but there is a NEW Star Wars movie now set to be released in 2015! And according to the official statement, Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy will serve as executive producer, with George Lucas on-board as creative consultant.

That’s not all – apparently this could just be the tip of the iceberg, as more films are expected to follow, continuing the Star Wars saga and growing the franchise “well into the future”. The mind boggles.

So, we’re looking at what everyone is calling ‘Star Wars Episode 7’… as for what the story could entail, anything we come up with is mere speculation at this point.

But it got us thinking… with the Emperor and Darth Vader apparently killed in Episode 6 AKA Return of the Jedi, and the rebels having defeated the Empire with the help of the Ewoks… What could possibly be next? Well, considering it’s Disney, maybe some form of Ewok adventures? No? Too lame??

And looking beyond that, who will star? Could we see a return of Harrison Ford? What about Mark Hamil, who is looking like a shell of his former self these days? And can you imagine Carrie Fisher back in a slave girl outfit? Maybe not.

We could in fact be looking at a whole host of new actors, much like the more recent Star Trek reboot – well, it’d make sense, wouldn’t it? Or maybe a whole new generation could be introduced with Skywalker serving as some sort of Obi Wan Kenobi type. So many questions. So few answers… Let’s just hope they don’t involve the John Carter production team on this one, eh?
