It’s the one many have been waiting for, (okay, the trailer you’ve been waiting for, then) it’s finally here… Having gone for months with very little knowledge of the plot for Star Trek Into Darkness, things have finally started leaking out. But never mind that now – we have the teaser trailer!

And well… it’s ermmmm… it’s what was to be expected from the title, really; Dark. Benedict Cumberbatch‘s (a very fine actor, and nothing to do with a batch of cucumbers, we promise you) presence is already impressive, there is a feeling of overall dread, cities coming to what looks like a rather sticky end, and some dark music to go with it.

But hey, why are we bothering describing it to you when you can watch it yourselves! Go on, don’t be nervous, it’s right here. Just below this text. Go on, you can do it. Take a little peek. Yesss, that’s right! Watch the first proper glimpse (that isn’t a fraction of a second of Spock in a Volcano) of Star Trek Into Darkness – we dare you!

Right, now that we’ve got that over with, what did you think? It certainly looks a bit epic, we’ll give it that. Here’s a repeat of the synopsis, just to refresh your memories and help make a little more sense of what you’ve seen above:

“In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.”
