So what will some of our favorite ladies wear this year at the Emmys?  Read on for some mad speculation.

Elisabeth Moss

Elisabeth Moss at the 2012 Emmys. Something of a swing and a miss, eh?

Poor Elisabeth—like her fictional counterpart Peggy with her Catholic schoolgirl plaids and Peter Pan collars, she’s got a bit of a tin ear when it comes to the red carpet–if the above picture is not proof enough for you, click here and here).

So what do we know about Ms. Moss?  Well, in the past, she’s worn a lot of neutrals (a LOT) on the red carpet, but recently, she’s been wearing a lot more peppy brights and vampy blacks.  Maybe it’s her new platinum pixie ‘do!

Personally, I’d love to see here in this lovely gown from Oscar de la Renta:

Oscar de la Renta Resort 2014

The peekaboo hem keeps it youthful and fun, and all-in-all, it’s a lovely, classic dress. And given the right styling, I think it would look gorgeous.

 Christina Hendricks

And what about Elisabeth’s Mad Men co-star one Christina Hendricks?  For her, it’s usually all about the bodycon look (and who can blame her?)  One thing’s for sure: you won’t find her in any sack dresses, she’s always sure to highlight her fabulous figure.

She looks amazing in jewel tones (watch some Mad Men if you don’t believe me), but she also looks good in pastels (she stunned in lilac Zac Posen a few years back) and metallics.  Now, seeing her two-year trend of wearing silver to the Emmys, here’s my prediction:

Badgley Mischka Spring 2014 RTW

It’s figure-hugging, and the ivory/silver will look fabulous on her coloring–I think it’s an all-around win.

Lena Dunham

Pantsless red carpet moments aside, I actually generally like Lena Dunham’s style.  Her street style is quirky-cute, and her red carpet style always has some edge.  She takes risks.  Now, they don’t always pay off, but she’s always at the very least interesting.

And what do we know about Lena?  Most likely because of her tattoo, she tends to go for sleeveless or strapless ensembles.  She tends to favor blacks, but she’s not afraid of jewel tones or metallics, which is always nice.

Here are my top picks for Lena:

Left: Armani Prive Fall 2013 Couture, Right: Valentino Fall 2013 Couture

Perhaps the first dress could do without the feathery goiter, but the I’m loving the puffball/sequin combo.  And I think it’s just right for Lena Dunham’s quirky sensibilities.

I’m also loving this coral-encrusted Valentino gown.  The gunmetal/silver adds that toughness that Lena tends to favor on the red carpet, and the plunging neckline keeps it youthful and fun.

Kerry Washington

Can I just say, the “most stylish woman of the year” title is well deserved?  I especially enjoyed seeing all of her red carpet choices when she was making the Django Unchained press circuit last winter (I’m in LOVE with this one).

And she has range: ultra-girly, super-bright, tough-as-nails?  She’s done it all.

That’s why I think she’s apt to go for something feminine, bright, and a little out there.  Like this:

The colors are fantastic, the skirt is princessy, and the crop top is fun.  I think Kerry could knock this one out of the park.
