Is it really possible? How can this be happening?

These are just two of the questions Alien fans amongst us will be asking after hearing this latest Prometheus 2 news (via io9), but we’ve heard it from the horse’s mouth: Ridley Scott himself has stated that the sequel will be xenomorph-free.

This is not only in direct contrast to where the last film appeared to be headed, but also to previous news that the sequel to the prequel (love saying that) will be “more alien-y”.

Which begs the question: How will Prometheus 2 be more “alien-y” without the aliens?

Scott recently spoke to Yahoo Movies UK about the upcoming sequel. He said:

“The beast is done. Cooked. I got lucky meeting Giger all those years ago. It’s very hard to repeat that. I just happen to be the one who forced it through because they said it’s obscene. They didn’t want to do it and I said, ‘I want to do it, it’s fantastic’. But after four [he has conveniently forgotten the ‘AvP’ movies], I think it wears out a little bit. There’s only so much snarling you can do. I think you’ve got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we’ve found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start.”

Really though? Really??

On that bombshell, we’re going to end this story. Who else is disappointed?

More to the point, do you think a xenomorph-free Prometheus 2 is for better, or worse?
