Of course, we were all expecting C3PO, played by Anthony Daniels, to return in Star Wars: Episode VII along with the likes of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher – but in what form, we weren’t exactly sure. Now we know.

Daniels had the option of using motion capture, merely lending his voice to the role, or getting back into the C3PO suit himself. He recently told Entertainment Weekly that when filmmaker J.J. Abrams asked, he said: “There’s no way I would just do the voice.”

That’s us told, then. Daniels has, however, requested some (unnoticable to the viewer) alterations to the suit to make it more comfortable to wear and get into.

Daniels said: “I will tell you that the team then got together and built a new suit. They made an entirely new look-a-like with changes that you will never notice [on screen] that made my life a lot easier. I can get it on and off very quickly.”

With still 15 months to go ’til the film’s release, are you looking forward to Episode VII yet?
