Disney held their big D23 Expo over the weekend, and on Saturday, the film folks – Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm – released all kinds of news and amazing footage to titillate the fans. Here are some highlights:

Star Wars: The Last Jedi (opens December 17)

A new behind-the-scenes look at STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI just debuted at D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif.  Director Rian Johnson surprised fans with on-stage appearances by cast members Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern and Benicio Del Toro. Avengers: Infinity Wars (2018)

Disney’s Alan Horn brought Kevin Feige to the stage to talk Marvel Studios’ Avengers:    Infinity War and some pretty impressive footage was shown, introduced by director Joe Russo, from the the massive MCU undertaking, which combines about 10 years of Marvel movies (with some still to be released). They are all coming together to fight the big, bad Thanos – and it’s going to be epic.

As a surprise for the D23 attendees, talent from the film made a grand entrance, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Josh Brolin, Don Cheadle, Sebastian Stan, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff.

Mulan: A live-action take on Disney’s 1998 feature, which will be helmed by Niki Caro (Whale Rider)

Jungle Cruise: A live-action nod to the popular theme park ride, starring Dwayne Johnson.

Aladdin: A live-action update to the classic Disney film, directed by Guy Ritchie, with Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Will Smith as the Genie. Yes, that’s right, Will Smith as the Genie.

Dumbo: Production is underway for filmmaker Tim Burton’s live-action reimagining of Disney’s 1941 animated classic. “Dumbo was always one of my favorite Disney films,” said Burton. “We’re trying to give it the same heart, feeling and emotion that we all loved about the original.” It stars Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton and Eva Green, and will be released in 2019.
