Gambling is not just an activity people do when they want to relax and have fun; it’s a form of entertainment on its own. It involves a series of elements like a luxurious setting, good music and company, impressive decors, and plenty of thrill.

As such it shouldn’t surprise you that there are plenty of movies and TV shows who built a serious audience around the idea of gambling. Below we listed only the most glamorous ones, but if you dig a bit deeper, you’ll find a wide array of genres and topics.

#1: Now You See Me 1 & 2

This a series of two movies (released in 2013 and 2016) that tell the story of four incredibly talented illusionists who come together to create an unbeatable team (The Four Horsemen). They stage amazing magic shows, during which they show off their talents and mesmerize the audience.

Everything happens in a luxurious setting where people are being reminded that the bigger picture is always different than what you see up close. And, while the main characters are not gamblers per se, the action happens in Las Vegas, the world capital of casinos and gambling.

As a viewer, you get to enjoy the thrill of the story and the beautiful world of entertainment that flashes before your eyes.

#2: Casino (1995)

A classic in the history of cinematography, this Martin Scorsese movie is once again set in Las Vegas. At the surface, viewers enjoy the beautiful world of casinos, with fun games and entertaining activities.

However, the real story happens between two best friends, a mafia enforcer and a casino executive who allow money and greed to corrupt their relationship. The movie also depicts the tragic story of how the mob used to get involved in the casino business back in the 70s and 80s. Luckily, the scenario couldn’t work in today’s world due to strict regulations of gambling and casino activity.

#3: Poker After Dark

If you’re not that much into the drama that surrounds gamblers and gambling in most productions, you may enjoy this one.

Poker After Dark started in 2007 and still airs today at midnight during the week. The show depicts a poker game with six professional players who battle in a No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em game for $120,000.

The stakes are high, the players skilled, and viewers have a lot to learn and enjoy. The show is truly entertaining as the hosts know how to keep people on their toes. They even made it more interesting by opening the game to amateurs in some episodes.

Now, if you feel like playing after watching the show, you can always go to and try to apply what you’ve learned from the pros.

#4: Molly’s Game (2017)

The movie depicts the true story of Molly Bloom, a former Olympic skier who got involved in the world of poker. She became so well-known among gamblers that she got to run the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game for a decade.

The story ends with her being arrested by the FBI, but until that moment we get a peek into the world of first-class gamblers.

#5: Breaking Vegas

This show is about gamblers who would do anything to win and beat the house. It was initially aired on The History Channel in 2004 and showed various creative ways designed by gamblers to make sure they would win.

While it’s not just about gambling, but how to beat your odds, the show is interesting because it depicts how casinos work and how to cheat using various tools and techniques (some of which are legal!).

While the show is not on TV anymore, you can still find it on DVD.
