American Idol: Jacob Lusk is Silenced

Jacob Lusk was eliminated from American Idol tonight, landing the strong-voiced singer in fifth place. Despite having Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler repeatedly say it was an "honor" to be in Jacob's presence, the result was predicted by our own Noah Duman. Lusk struggled singing both voices in the Jordin Sparks-Chris Brown duet of "No Air", which led to a heated debate between him and Randy Jackson about what kind of singer he should be. Lusk wanted to be more mainstream, but Jackson felt he was more effective as a Luther Vandross-type. Jackson was probably right. Lusk redeemed himself somewhat with a stirring rendition of "Love Hurts", but on a night when all of the contestants had exceptionally strong performances, it was just too late in the game for there to be uncertainty on exactly the type of singer Lusk should be. Surprisingly, Lauren Alaina was in the bottom two, even though she has consistently improved each week and her rendition of a Carrie Underwood song was one of the best of the night. Who will go next?

American Idol: Casey Can’t Be Saved

For the second time on American Idol this season, Casey Abrams was pegged for elimination. This week though, there was no save available for the judges and Casey was sent home. The bearded 20-year old from Idyllwild was one of the more colorful contestants on the show. A true musician, Abrams could be counted on doing something dramatically different every week, whether it was singing Nirvana, playing the base, or kissing Jennifer Lopez. After being shockingly saved in Top-11 week, Abrams didn't face the Bottom Three again until this week when he joined Scotty McCreery and Jacob Lusk. While Abrams was extremely talented, his occasional growls and unusual style scared off some voters. Our very own Noah Duman was hoping Abrams would be eliminated after his rendition last night of Carole King's "Hi-De-Ho". Now, American can wonder if Casey's rumored girlfriend Haley Reinhart will be the next to go.

American Idol: Pia Toscano’s Surprising Exit

A bit of a surprise this week on American Idol as the hottie from Howard Beach, Pia Toscano, was eliminated. After a solid, but unspectacular rendition of "River Deep Mountain High", America just didn't give Toscano enough support for her first upbeat song of the season. Stefano Langone barely staved off elimination while Jacob Lusk was also a surprise in the bottom three. Toscano is the fifth straight woman to leave show, while all of the male finalists remain.

American Idol: Casey Abrams Gets the Save

A huge night on American Idol as Casey Abrams was pegged for elimination, and then saved by the judges. Stefano Langone was second from the bottom while Thia Megia also landed in the bottom three. The save means American Idol will tour as a Top-11, rather than a Top-10, and it shows this might be the most talented cast ever. As for Fantasy American Idol, no elimination points will be awarded this week. You can still earn points for correctly guessing the bonus questions. If there is a week in which two contestants are eliminated, then you could earn points on two separate people. Check back later for Rebecca Rose's recap of this epic show.

American Idol: We’re All So Very Old

Old! That’s how this episode made me feel! This week, the idol hopefuls had to perform songs from the year of their birth, and most of them were born well after I was a conscious human being making concrete memories. I don’t like this concept one bit! But anyway, how did they do? Let’s find out.
