The original Amazon Prime thriller Black Box, from Blumhouse Productions, centers on Nolan (Mamoudou Athie), a man who has severe memory loss after surviving a horrific car crash that killed his wife. His young daughter tries to take care of him, but day-to-day tasks are becoming more and more difficult.
Desperate to regain his life, he turns to a doctor (Phylicia Rashad) who specializes in brain recovery. She has developed an experimental treatment that may help Nolan, but the treatment turns agonizingly sinister when it causes Nolan to experience nightmarish memories and makes him question who he really is.
ScreenPicks spoke with Athie and Rashad about making this trippy thriller, the human aspects we connect to – and how the technology could actually happen.
