Director Timur Bekmambetov helms his first thriller Profile using the Screenlife format, which he created for films Searching and Unfriended as a producer.
Inspired by the 2015 nonfiction bestseller In the Skin of a Jihadist and taking place entirely on a computer screen, Profile follows Amy Whitaker (Valene Kane), a freelance British journalist who is hungry for her big break. When she decides to go undercover online to bait and expose a terrorist recruiter named Bilel (Shazad Latif), she snags the story of a lifetime. But the deeper she goes, the more she finds herself being lured into a dangerous world by the charismatic Bilel -- and the more life-threatening it becomes.
ScreenPicks spoke with the lovely Valene Kane about her role and having to master the art of being computer savvy. She also talks about working with the amazing and collaborative Bekmambetov, and how the subject matter took her down some dark paths.
Watch the interview below and make sure to check out Profile in selected theaters on May 14!
