Unwanted presences are nothing new to the horror genre -- but with The Evil Next Door, audiences get a double dose of both spooky thriller and a heartfelt family drama.
When a new stepmom, Shirin, moves into her partner’s duplex with his son Lucas she thinks it will be a happily ever after type of scenario. But when her partner, Frederik, leaves for work, some strange occurrences keep happening in their new home.
The highlight of the film is the character development between Shirin (Dilan Gwyn) and Lucas, played by the talented Eddie Eriksson Dominguez. Their chemistry, combined with the extraordinary screenplay and direction, make for a stellar scare.
At a recent press day, ScreenPicks spoke with the film’s writer/directors, Oskar Mellender and Tord Danielson, about making their feature debut and some of their own paranormal experiences that inspired them to create The Evil Next Door.
