The Alpinist is the latest documentary on the dangerous and exhilarating sport of rock climbing, in which filmmakers and fellow climbers Peter Mortimer and Nick Rosen shine the spotlight on a young Canadian solo climber named Marc-André Leclerc.
The free-spirited 23-year-old, who was mostly an unknown, made some of the boldest solo ascents in history. With no cameras, no margin for error and far from the limelight, Leclerc's approach is the essence of solo adventure.
ScreenPicks spoke with Mortimer and Rosen about making this amazing documentary and how they wanted to tell Leclerc’s story. Watch below!
We also spoke with Leclerc’s girlfriend Brette Harrington, an accomplished climber herself, as she shared some wonderful memories about Leclerc. Watch below!
