Pike and Spock Get Their Own Star Trek Series

by Kit Bowen 16 May, 2020

We’re going to see just how Captain Pike (Anson Mount) and Spock (Ethan Peck), along with Number One (Rebecca Romijn), explore space together on the USS Enterprise

CBS All Access announced a straight-to-series order for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which follows the trio in the decade before Capt. Kirk boarded the Enterprise as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.

New Trek guru Alex Kurtzman will oversee the new drama. "When we said we heard the fans' outpouring of love for Pike, Number One and Spock when they boarded Star Trek: Discovery last season, we meant it," said Kurtzman in a statement. "These iconic characters have a deep history in Star Trek canon, yet so much of their stories has yet to be told. With Akiva and Henry at the helm, the Enterprise, its crew and its fans are in for an extraordinary journey to new frontiers in the Star Trek universe."

As part of the grand scale Star Trek programming on CBS All Access, this new series joins already established series Discovery, going into its third season, and Picard, which premiered its first season earlier this year.

There is also the forthcoming animated series Lower Decks, and in development Section 31, starring Michelle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou.

Good times ahead for Star Trek fans!
