The WWII drama Greyhound about an inexperienced U.S. Navy captain (Tom Hanks), who must lead an Allied convoy being stalked by Nazi U-boat wolfpacks, will make its premiere on Apple TV+, reports Deadline.
Sony Pictures was set to release the big-budget film, which was also written by Hanks, in theaters on Father’s Day weekend, but the pandemic squashed that. This is a pretty big coup for the struggling streaming service.
Hanks made the coronavirus pandemic real for most Americans when he and wife Rita Wilson announced that they had tested positive for COVID-19 in early March. Hanks was in Australia at the time, prepping to start production on the Baz Luhrmann-Elvis Presley movie, which now has been indefinitely postponed.
