Warner Bros’ Wonder Woman 1984 is the latest big tentpole movie to push its release date due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Originally slated to be released June 5, the Wonder Woman sequel will now hit theaters August 14, 2020.
The studio is also postponingIn the Heights,an adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical that was due out June 26, and Scoob -- an animated film based on Scooby-Doo characters set for May 15. Director James Wan’s thriller Malignantwas originally scheduled to open on Aug. 14 but will now be pushed to another time.
Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 follows Gal Gadot’s Amazonian warrior in the Reagan era as she battles two formidable foes — Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) and Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) — while reuniting with her past love, Steve Trevor (Chris Pine). The cast also includes Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen.
